Geordie Brookman is an award winning director of new plays, classics, adaptations, music theatre and physical theatre. From 2012 to 2019 he was Artistic Director and co-CEO of State Theatre Company South Australia, where he more than tripled the company’s activity and led its first international tours.

With Frantic Assembly’s Scott Graham he co-directed Andrew Bovell’s Things I Know To Be True, which premiered in Adelaide and toured the UK, including hit seasons at the Lyric Hammersmith and Bristol Old Vic. In 2024 he directed the world premiere of Samuel Adamson’s Jack Maggs, adapted from Peter Carey’s novel, a project developed across London, Berlin and Adelaide. Other credits include Kryptonite, Machu Picchu and Spring Awakening for Sydney Theatre Company, and Betrayal, The Importance of Being Earnest, A Doll’s House and Macbeth for State Theatre Company. His productions have won Helpmann, Green Room and Sydney and Adelaide Critics Circle awards.

Geordie is based in Berlin where is currently Co-Artistic Director and Dramaturg of the Chamäleon Theater. Born and raised on Kaurna land he now works across the EU in both English and German.
